Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was raised in a mixed ethnic family. Her mother and father were both English. She was a student at The Brit School when she was 14 years old. She received her Bachelor of Arts in acting at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. While at the academy, she performed in a number of stage productions, including the King Henry V playing Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started acting in Storm Damage. In the following years, she appeared on Teachers, Doctors Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's first film role was in Woody Allen's 2007 film Cassandra's Dream opposite Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor. Following that, she played Elisha (a BBC Three drama-pilot) in West 10 LDN. Additionally she was a part of Trexx as Ollie and in six episodes of Flipside. She played Bambi on the ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was the main character on How to Lose Friends And Alienate Others, a comedic comedy made in the year 2008. She also appeared in Little Sweet Thing, by Roy Williams, and Flight Path, composed by David Watson.
Madekwe was chosen to play Ashley Davenport in ABC's Drama The Beautiful Life. The two-episode drama aired just the duration of two weeks The CW and then it ended. Ashley Davenport, a character from ABC's Revenge drama series, was cast as Ashley Davenport. Madekwe's exit from the series was officially announced in May of 2013. After two years as the main character she appeared as a guest in the first episode of season 3. In 2014 and 2016, she starred in the role of Tituba in the TV series Salem. Madekwe, her longtime partner, Iddo, married Madekwe in June of 2012. Together, they worked on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Goldberg also appeared with Madekwe in Salem.
Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with an extended family. Her parents were Roy and Patty along with her older brothers -Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley's brothers, who are all athletic, played baseball during the summer and played hockey in the winter months. Ashley did not walk; instead, she would dance. In the age of two and half she discovered Baby Ballet. Ashley was enthralled by dance after this. When she was in High School, Ashley danced competitively in the highest divisions of ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, acrobatics, musical theatre, lyrical and hip-hop. Ashley was awarded the top soloist award at every major dance contest, which included International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance, to name just a few.
